Our lovely fellow, Jean-Paul Valley! Now, Davey gave me the option to pick anyone I wanted to, but I figure that after making him take a peek at Jesse, I'd take on one of his more mysterious characters.
So we've got this guy, Jean Paul Valley. This is what I remember about him from the comic -- took the Bat!Mantle while Batsy was recovering from having his back broken by Bane. Religious, and that's putting it mildly. Batshit crazy, and that's ALSO putting it mildly.
These are a few salient points from his Wiki article: * latest in the line of assassins from something called The Sacred Order of Dumas * he is unaware that he is an assassin for this stellar organization * he's a test tube baby * his genes were spliced with animal genes * he has regular hallucinations of his father and St. Dumas
Obviously an incredibly stable individual!
I think that a character such as this would have two choices -- the personalities would either splinter more, and he would eventually fall into one or the other, or they'd meld. Davey's chosen to go down the path of having the personalities merge, taking on the best aspects of each half.
This is likely to make him a formidable opponent, as he is smart as a whip and brutally vicious to boot. He's currently making nice with Vandal Savage and the Contessa, and perhaps will soon be coming up against the current Bat Family and making their lives a hell of a lot more interesting.
Where do I want to see him go? The heck away from my characters, that's for sure ;)
I kid, I kid. Mostly.
I'd love to see J-P stay as a neutral character. Staying quite firmly on his own side.
And? As I've chatted with Davey about before, I'd love to see him explore his religious side. JP was part of a religious order, had hallucinations involving discussions with St. Dumas. In comics, at least the titles that I'm currently reading, you don't see much mention of religion. If there is, it's usually not in a particularly positive light. While the Order of St. Dumas is not necessarily a stellar example of religious orders, it played THE crucial role in the creation and raising of Jean-Paul Valley, and this should not be ignored.
So has Jean-Paul managed to quell his demons? Actually, I hope that he has not. A perfect scene, IMO, would be the sudden appearance of St. Dumas. What would Jean-Paul do? How would he react? How would this affect his interactions with others?
